There is still a way to go once you have gone through the selection process and identified the candidate that you want. You have to "land" him or her. You have to make an offer and make it stick. Get your chosen candidate in place before another organization does.
Make your decision quickly. Remember that the pool of available talent is always in flux, and your candidate will not be a candidate for long. Make your decision as quickly as possible after the interview, and let the person know.
Treat the candidate in a thoroughly professional manner, from the selection process on. Be courteous. Be respectful and responsible to his or her needs.
Above all, make a fair and competitive offer. Do not try to buy cheap at the last minute. You will lose your candidate and, at the same time, your entire investment in the search process.
Block competitive offers by confirming your offer in writing and setting a reporting date soon after the date of hire.
These hiring guidelines grow out of research and over 20 years of recruiting experience. They can help you attract the right people to your company staff when you need them.
